Appointments

Our surgeries at East Norwich Medical Partnership are held by appointment. We do our very best to provide our 16,100 patients with an appointment and to meet patient demand.

We are funded by NHS England to provide routine 10 minute GP appointments. We prefer to deal with one problem during an appointment as this allows us to deal with it appropriately. If you feel you may need longer, please request a longer appointment.

We offer different appointment types dependent upon the service that you require from us. Therefore, the length of appointment time may vary. We will book you with the most appropriate member of the clinical team to meet your healthcare needs.

If you have a mobile or smartphone, please make sure that we have your up to date contact numbers. If you consent to SMS messages, we can verify your mobile number which allows us to confirm your booked appointments, send you appointment reminders and invite you for health reviews.

Nurse practitioner appointments

East Norwich Medical Partnership has 2 nurse practitioners that work with our GP team. They provide us with a service 5 days a week and provide a same day minor illness service. The nurse practitioner appointments are mainly on the day appointments. One of our nurse practitioners is a qualified prescriber and is able to provide prescriptions for the patients that she is able to see.

Our nurse practitioners are qualified to see patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed medical problems. They will make a detailed assessment of the patients healthcare needs, based on their combined medical and nursing knowledge. This includes history taking, physical examination, diagnosis and prescribing of medicines. They are also able to refer patients to other clinical specialists such as hospital consultants.

Please see the services our nurse practitioners can provide.

Nurse and healthcare assistant appointments

Our nursing teams provide our patients with a variety of treatment room services as well as the review and monitoring of long term conditions. Our healthcare assistants provide support to our nursing team. They provide our patients with a range of services such as blood taking, INR service, blood pressures, ECGs, some injections and some wound management following a care plan set by a practice nurse.

If you are on certain medications i.e. disease modifying drugs such as Metoject or Warfarin, have certain long term conditions such as asthma, COPD or diabetes, you will be reviewed regularly by us. We will inform you of when you need to attend and which clinician you will need to see. For more health reviews and assessments, please visit our online forms page.

Extended hours

At present we provide an additional 8 hours of appointments per week. This is a combination of booked GP telephone appointments and additional phlebotomy service over the lunchtime period.

Extended hours appointments are available 6:30pm to 8:30pm on alternating Thursdays.

We do not currently provide extended hours appointments on Saturdays or Sundays.

Improved access

Under this scheme, Lionwood Medical Practice is the hub for patients registered in practices in the East of Norwich.

Pharmacies

We have two on site pharmacies, one located on each practice site. However, these are both independent from the practice and are not part of our business operation. Please see our prescriptions page for more information about the nearest pharmacies.
